About the book

MOATS Theory of Life
By Arthur Moats with Tisha Sledd

Arthur Moats spent nine years in the National Football League. His path from the inner city to the starting lineup of the Pittsburgh Steelers is inspiring. Arthur learned about who he wanted to be through the journey of hills and valleys. He learned that his own self-worth was dependent on impacting others for good. He learned that the glory and fame of the NFL was worthless compared to inspiring others to become all they could be.

M.O.A.T.S. Theory of Life is the culmination of Arthur’s desire to create ripples of greatness in society. Discover the origin of Arthur’s famous tagline “Don’t Cross the Moats.” Be inspired through Arthur’s experiences. Learn what it takes to be a person of impact. Open your heart and your mind to what kind of difference you can make in your own circle of influence.

About the Author

From the inner city of Norfolk, Virginia, to a starting position in the NFL, Arthur Moats has lived an incredible life full of twists and turns. His enthusiasm and exuberance for getting the most out of life is contagious to those around him. Fans began cheering his name because of his reputation for being a hard-hitting linebacker. When they began chanting “Don’t Cross the Moats,” Arthur knew he had found his tribe.

Moats is also known for his philanthropic works. Two different NFL teams have honored him with the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his excellence on and off the field. Moats has donated a huge percentage of his earnings to various charities and loves to inspire others to become all they were created to be.

Moats retired from the NFL in 2019. He is now a sportscaster for the Pittsburgh Steelers and hosts his own podcast, The Arthur Moats Experience with Deke, on iTunes. He lives with his wife Shonda and their three children in Pittsburgh.

There are no excuses. Not enough money, not enough support, not enough time – those are all cop-outs! They are all lies that come from fear.
